First Native American Saint Named

Share

Seven new Saints were named by Pope Benedict XVI including Kateri Tekakwitha or commonly known as "Lily of the Mohawks".

The canonization took place on Sunday at St Peter's Square. The homily of the Pope focused on the lives of the seven  who pay their lives for God's purpose.

The other new Saints include a French missionary at Madagascar, a young Filipino missionary, lepers care taker and a nun who campaigned for women's rights.
